Installation Process

We begin with a free home consultation, where we discuss your wants and needs and check the condition of the existing floor. We’ll work with you to find the right type of solid wood for your space.

We then ensure the subfloor is level, dry, and suitable for fitting. If required, we will include a damp proof membrane to control the moisture levels.

Once the surface is prepared, the floor is laid with the utmost precision by our team of experienced fitters. Once laid, the boards are sanded and finished to complete the look.

Finally, we conduct a thorough cleanup to ensure that your new floor is pristine, intact, and will look its best for years to come. We will also provide recommendations for maintenance to keep your new flooring in good condition.

Solid Wood vs Engineered Wood — which is right for you?

Solid wood flooring has a number of benefits. Providing just one piece of hardwood, it can be sanded and refinished many times over the course of its life. It is well suited to rooms with stable humidity and heating conditions

Engineered wood floor, by contrast,  is a hardwood top layer bonded to a base layer. This type of flooring is best suited to larger spams, or rooms where the temperature and humidity may vary.

During your consultation, we’ll discuss the benefits of both options with you to recommend the flooring best suited to your space.

Fit Only Services

You do not need to have purchased from us to benefit from our installation services.

If you have sourced your own flooring from a supplier or manufacturer, our experienced installers can fit it to the highest professional standard.

This includes our consultation, so that we can assess the existing flooring and subfloor to ensure it is suitable for installation.

FAQs

Is solid wood flooring compatible with wood flooring?

You can install solid wood flooring with underfloor heating, but for these types of floors we typically recommend engineered wood.

During your consultation we’ll assess your space and advise on the best option for you.

Can solid wood flooring be repaired?

Yes! One of the major benefits of solid wood flooring is that wear and tear can be repaired through sanding and refinishing – this is a service we offer!

How long does solid wood flooring last?

With professional installation and proper maintenance, solid wood flooring can last for decades. Because it can be sanded and refinished several times, many solid wood floors remain in excellent condition for over 50 years.

Our team will provide you with aftercare and maintenance recommendations after installation to help you preserve the longevity of your new flooring.

How do I maintain solid wood flooring?

Regular sweeping or vacuuming, prompt cleaning of spills and occasional maintenance with suitable wood floor products will help keep your flooring looking its best. Avoid excessive moisture and use felt pads beneath furniture to reduce wear.
